Pedro Silva
Born in Guimarães, Pedro Silva is currently one of the most recognized Portuguese musicians and teachers of his generation. He studied in Artave and at the Escola Superior de Música do Porto, with Professor Hugues Kesteman’s Class. He improved his studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Music Karlsruhe (Germany) with Professor GunterPfizenmaier, holding a master’s degree and specialist status at these institutions. Within the scope of Chamber Music, Masterclasses and Orchestral Music, he regularly performs in: Spain, France, Holland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Brazil and in the main Portuguese festivals.
Show MoreHe was a member of the Orquestra do Norte, the Orquestra Filarmonia das Beiras, the Orquestra Nacional do Porto and the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto CM, having also collaborated with the main national orchestras. Also noteworthy is the collaboration with the Orquestra de Paris, Essen Filarmonic, Orquestra Gulbenkian/Orquestra Gulbenkian Soloists and the Remix Ensemble. He is a founding member of Trivm de Palhetas and Camerata Senza Misura with whom he has records at Editora Numérica. It premiered works by the main contemporary international composers such as: Magnus Lindberg, Jonathan Harvey, Harrison Birtwistle, Emmanuel Nunes or Bruno Mantovani. As a soloist, he is dedicated works for solo/piano/electronic bassoon by composers such as: Jean-François Lézé, Fernando Lapa, Carlos Azevedo, Sérgio Azevedo, Telmo Marques, Pedro Faria Gomes and José Luís Ferreira. He was a member of several juries, including the Young Musicians Award, Helena Costa Competition or Terras de la Salette. He taught at Artave, Arteam (viana do castelo) and UA (Aveiro University). He currently teaches exclusively at the Esmae (Escola Superior de Música do Porto) and regularly giving masterclasses in Europe.
